Important note

The Goethe-Institut Netherlands has been closed to the public since Monday, 16 March 2020. The health of our guests and course participants* is very important to us.

In response to the recommendations of the Dutch authorities, the Goethe-Institut Netherlands has limited public access at both locations. Please contact us before you come to us. As soon as the situation changes, we will inform you via our digital channels.

If you have any questions, please contact the library team: bibliothek-amsterdam@goethe.de

Here you will find a range of current print and audiovisual media in German and in translation. Our key focus areas are German literature and language. Our offer of books and magazines is complemented by literary audiobooks and a collection of German feature and documentary films that is unique in Amsterdam. There is a special emphasis on “German as a foreign language” for which we have a dedicated learning centre. In addition to a variety of learning and teaching materials, the centre offers personal advice. You can also access a wide choice of e-books and electronic magazines via our eLibrary.

Further information about our library can be found on our website
